Seminar #10: September | Behind the Scenes

FAME’S Institute Orchestral & Opera Programs

September 2025 – Behind the Scenes

During September 2025, FAME’S Institute hosted a series of advanced chamber music and opera orchestral programs, bringing together young European musicians, renowned mentors, and international partners for an intensive month of artistic collaboration.

Chamber Music Course (September 04 – 08, 2025)

The Chamber Music String Quartets Orchestral Course brought together young string quartets for an immersive chamber music residency at the FAME’S Institute, organised in collaboration with Le Dimore del Quartetto.

Under the guidance of the Vivancos Quartet, participating ensembles worked intensively on musical communication, ensemble cohesion, technical refinement, and interpretative depth. Daily masterclasses and coaching sessions allowed students to explore repertoire in depth, while open rehearsals provided valuable insight into the quartet’s creative and rehearsal process, offering participants a closer look at professional chamber music practice.

Recording Orchestral Course (September 09 – 13, 2025)

Following the chamber music residency, the Recording Orchestral Course offered participants hands-on experience in professional studio recording sessions at the FAME’S Studio.

Students worked in a studio environment, developing essential skills related to ensemble balance, precision, and performance under recording conditions. The course provided practical insight into the recording process and the demands of professional orchestral work behind the scenes.

Classical Opera Orchestral Course (September 14 – September 27, 2025)

September 14 – 27, 2025

In collaboration with Opera Nova, FAME’S Institute hosted a two-week Classical Opera Orchestral Course dedicated to Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

The program began in Skopje, where participants took part in intensive rehearsals and workshops focused on Classical Viennese style, orchestral work, and operatic interpretation under the guidance of Maestro Philip Walsh.

In the second week, the project continued in Malta, where musicians joined the singers for final rehearsals coached by Gillian Zammit. The course culminated in two fully staged performances of The Magic Flute at the historic Teatru Manoel in Valletta, conducted by Philip Walsh.

This production offered participants a rare opportunity to experience the full operatic process from studio rehearsals to professional stage performance while working within an international artistic team.
