Classical Opera Orchestral Course

14th to 27th of September 2025

In collaboration with Opera Nova, the FAME’S Institute invites European music students to take part in a unique 2 orchestral program dedicated to the art of opera performance. Designed for young musicians eager to develop their orchestral and stylistic skills, this immersive experience focuses on the interpretation and performance of one of Mozart’s most iconic operas — The Magic Flute.

The program begins with a week of intensive rehearsals and workshops at FAME’S Studio in Skopje, North Macedonia. Participants will receive hands-on training in the classical Viennese style, exploring Mozart’s musical language in depth under the expert guidance of Mro Philip Walsh. Focus will be placed on
orchestral ensemble playing, stylistic awareness, and the specific demands of orchestral opera performance.

In the second week, the program moves to Malta for final rehearsals with the singers, coached by Gillian Zammit (Opera Nova – Malta) and two full-scale performances of The Magic Flute, conducted by renowned English maestro Philip Walsh — a specialist in historically informed performance. The opera will be staged at the prestigious Manoel Theatre in Valletta, one of Europe’s oldest functioning theatres, built in 1731.
