Introducing Seminar #6: ‘Film Music’ & ‘Carte Blanche’ Orchestral Courses!
Week 1: 10th – 17th of September 2024
Silent Movie
Under the mentorship of Maestro Mirian Khukhunaishvili, we’re thrilled to collaborate with the National Cinematheque of North Macedonia for this unique project. During the Course, our students will gain experience preparing a silent movie masterpiece: “Blackmail” by Hitchcock, whose music is composed by Neil Brand, and will be performed at the Silent and Classical Film Festival in Skopje on 16th of September.
Our Mentor/Conductor of the ‘Film Music’ Orchestral Course, Mirian Khukhunaishvili @mirian.nai, is co-founder and music director of the Tbilisi Youth Orchestra who has led orchestras such as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Bamberger Symphoniker, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Iceland Symphony Orchestra and many more. Mirian has been praised by Christoph Eschenbach as a “tremendously gifted young conductor” and is ready to guide you through this musical journey!
Week 2: 17th – 26th of September 2024
Video Games
Our final Orchestral Course ‘Carte Blanche’ will be the culmination of our 2024 Seminar Program, paying tribute to the groundbreaking ‘Journey’ Original Soundtrack by Grammy-winning composer Austin Wintory @a.wintory. This week-long course will immerse you in the world of video game music, led by none other than Austin Wintory himself!
The concert finale will be performed on 25th of September at Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade.
Austin has scored nearly 50 feature films, and his first major film score, for the Sundance Film Festival-winning film Captain Abu Raed, was shortlisted for the 2009 Academy Awards for Best Original Score by the LA Times. Outside of games, Austin also maintains a busy concert composing schedule, with regular appearances throughout the world.
Passionate about education, Austin is a regular public speaker at schools and events around the world, in addition to pre-concert talks and workshops.
