FAME’S February Concerts Series

FAME’S Institute I February Concert Series

Two concerts. Two musical worlds. One stage.

Welcome to FAME’S Institute.  This February, 30 young European musicians from across Europe take the stage for two exceptional concerts Studio to Stage and Finding the Groove, each exploring a distinct musical universe.  FAME’S Institute is a European orchestral program for skilled European young musicians, offering intensive courses that combine orchestral training with performance and professional recording practice.

The program brings together a diverse range of repertoire and musical styles, from classical and contemporary, to hybrid, film, jazz, and media music, under the guidance of international mentors and experts. The Institute is co-founded by FAME’S Project, the European Union (Creative Europe) and the Ministry of Culture.

Concert 1 | Studio to Stage Macedonian | Philharmonic I Small Hall | February 10, 2026, 8PM

The first concert Studio to Stage is led by Daniel Rowland and focuses on professional orchestral recording, interpretation, and the transformation from studio work to live performance.

Daniel Rowland is renowned Dutch violinist, professor at the Royal College of Music in London, and founder of the Stift Music Festival. As a soloist and conductor, he will guide the ensemble through a repertoire that demands both technical precision and deep emotional engagement. The program includes Metamorphosen by Richard Strauss, Musica Dolorosa by Peteris Vasks, and The American Four Seasons by Philip Glass, presented in the year of the composer’s 90th birthday, as a modern reimagining of Vivaldi’s piece through Glass’s distinctive musical language.

Concert 2 | Finding the Groove Macedonian Philharmonic I Small Hall February 17, 2026, 8PM

When Jazz meets Classical, finding the groove is key! And learning to work with the rhythm section is at the heart of this musical meeting of minds. This hybrid orchestral-jazz project Finding the Groove explores how orchestral musicians work with rhythm in collaboration with a live jazz players and rhythm section.

Led by FAME’S Institute conductor Tim Redmond, the project brings together Strings and Jazz players in a focused exploration of timing, structure, and ensemble interaction. The soloist Douglas Marriner is a New York–based jazz drummer who has performed with ensembles including Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, Terry Waldo’s Gotham City Band, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.  The program moves between Jazz influenced repertoire and orchestral works shaped by groove and rhythm, offering a hybrid project that brings classical and jazz traditions into dialogue through shared musical language.
