Film Music Recording Orchestral Course
July 8–13, 2025
Led by internationally acclaimed composer and orchestrator Alastair King, the Film Music Recording Orchestral Course provided performing musicians with hands-on experience in recording original film music in a professional studio setting.
The program brought together 30 European classical musicians and five emerging composers at FAME’S recording studio in Skopje. Working under real industry conditions and tight deadlines, participants collaborated on newly written works, rehearsing and recording original film scores while gaining insight into the creative process behind music for the screen.
Composers developed their pieces in direct collaboration with the orchestra, while students also performed selected film music excerpts specially arranged for the ensemble. The course emphasized studio performance skills, precision in orchestral recording, and effective communication between composers and performers.
This intensive experience offered valuable preparation for musicians pursuing careers in orchestral recording and the film music industry.
Co-funded by the European Union and Creative Europe.
