Conrad van Alphen has earned wide acclaim from orchestras and audiences for his visionary interpretations, conducted with an energetic, efficient, kind, and highly communicative style.

Equally comfortable with both classical and large symphonic repertoire, van Alphen has an impressive roster of collaborations with orchestras such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Bochumer Symphoniker, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Russian National Orchestra, Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Bogota Philharmonic, Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, among many others.

At the turn of the millennium, Conrad founded Sinfonia Rotterdam, where he continues to serve as chief conductor and artistic director. The orchestra enjoys successful concert series at de Doelen in Rotterdam, Amare in The Hague, and the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Under his dynamic leadership, Sinfonia Rotterdam frequently performs at prominent venues across Europe and embarks on intercontinental tours to Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, China, and Russia.

World-class soloists such as Mikhail Pletnev, Maxim Vengerov, Nikolai Lugansky, Ronald Brautigam, Alexei Volodin, Simone Lamsma, Alena Baeva, and Mischa Maisky have praised van Alphen’s exceptional skill in concerto accompaniment.
